Mini Lesson – Historical Fiction text Features


“Remember when we were first learning about historical ficiton and we talked about the two time lines the historical timeline and the character timeline. Today we will read a piece of text that focuses on the character time line and even creates a text feature ( a visual time line) to help us the reader follow the character.

Teach your partner.
I want you to look at the timeline of Cesar Chavez’s life and make a prediction about what is the main idea or what is this story mostly about.
Tell your partner
What you feel is the main idea and what you why you feel that give them an example/detail.


Independent Practice- PB 14 (possible homework) Read Cesar Chavez passage then read independent book

 Writing Mini Lesson
Today writers we are well into the revision part of our writing.but revision is more than just sticking in a new sentence here into a draft. Often writers just turn over their drafts on their desck and begin writing a whole new draft, re creating the story so that it is brand new and improved.
 Let’s take this piece of a story I read from one of you and re-write it.
