MORNING ROTATIONS

PASS OUT QUIZZES  STAPLE IN FOLDERS Marzano statement : I understand and could teach this chapter to my friends.  I understand chapter 1.  I only understand some parts of chapter 1. I did not understand chapter 1.
Mini Lesson: So we are reading a hybrid genre book it contains nonfiction science and a personal narrative that is fiction. Sometimes that is called science fiction. The great thing about science fiction is the mixing of the genres and that we are lucky to fiind lots of unique text features. Today I want you to put on your science , So I want you  and your partner to skim through the pages of Chapter 2 and try to find some science text features.
For example: Bold print, highlights, diagrams.

Guided Practice:  Show a page under the projector.   Step 1 find the text feature Step 2 highlight the text feature  Step 3 Explain to me why it helps us with understanding the science of the book

Independent Practice:  PASS OUT Copies of the book to each partnership and have them explain and highlight

Mini Lesson: Yesterday we took some time to understand and deepen our learning on fractions and decimals we are going to continue this today.  So we are going to review labeling decimals and rounding decimals.

Reading Workshop

Mini Lesson: Today we are going to go back and revisit our learning of synonyms. We talked about finding shade of the same word.  Show paint chip anchor. Today We are going make sure we know that skill and then move into antonyms whish are the opposite. 
Read Together:The Surprise pg. 40


Guided Practice: Anchor chart

Independent Practice; Today you can continue to read the surprise and find antonyms and synonyms or you can use words from your text

Writing Workshop 


Mini Lesson: Today, I want you to recognize and make sure you have used appositves 
in your writing when needed and that have proper punctuation.


Guided Practice:  Let’s look at the work of the writer Ana Barajas.
She begins her writing piece with an appositive. Identify it and explain whey it help s us 
understand the story and how we make it part of the complex sentence.

Independent Practice:Revise and edit writing accordingly.
